Closure on a very difficult three and a half years

We had paid our business insurance diligently for over 20 years during which time we have not had a claim. We were told by the brokers on every year at renewal that should anything happen we would be looked after by the insurance company.

We got quite a nasty surprise after the quake on the 22nd of February 2011 that not only we received absolutely no help from the insurance company; we were advised to deal directly with the loss adjusters. We didn’t even know what loss adjusters did. It was a steep learning curve. As we also lost our home in the quake and became homeless at the same time, there was the added anxiety of uncertainty about our lives. At least a little understanding from the insurance company would have gone amiss.

Following the February quake, I sent an enormous amount of documentation to the loss adjusters to prove that we had substantial losses from the damage that occurred due to the quake damaging our building however each time I thought we were getting somewhere with the claim, another request came from the for more and more proof.

We were just about to give up the claim due to mental exhaustion when I decided to contact Hector at Bizclaims to help us. Hector managed to re-open our case and after several months of approaching the claim from different angles, we managed to get an acceptable settlement from the insurance company. Even in moments when I felt that the claim was still going nowhere, Hector would ring and reassure us that our claim was heading the right way.

It is certain that without Hector’s perseverance we would have given up and walked away with absolutely nothing from the insurance company. Apart from the money we received, it also helped us to get closure on a very difficult three and a half years.
